Costco Melbourne- the all you need to know guide

COSTCO MELBOURNE

An American wholesale warehouse. With everything from homeware, clothing, technology, alcohol and all types of food at wholesale prices.
Now why Costco? People love Costco because you can purchase American goods right here in Australia. Which is awesome, because we've got to try different food that's from America that we're now in live with. But everyone also loves Costco because you can buy nearly everything in bulk and save. In my opinion, unless you have a big family or a business then maybe Costco isn't for you.
For example, you can buy a 12 pack of giant muffins in 3 assorted flavours for $10. Now unless you have a lot of hungry mouths to feed then is it really necessary? Yes you're saving in the long run but some people would rather just shop week to week for the things they need.

But I honestly see Costco as more of a fun day out. Yesterday we purchased a yearly membership which was $60. Our membership includes as many trips as we want, and it also includes another card for a house hold member to use as well. So anyone that lives at the same address as you can get a card as well. With a membership you can take 2 adult guests in (no limit on children), BUT you are the only one to make a transaction at the end. It all sounds very confusing now but if you visit the Melbourne Costco they'll be happy to explain all the details to you at the desk.
So yesterday we panned a day out to visit Costco Melbourne.

Enough food tester stalls that you won't need to eat lunch, fresh food in bulk like you've never seen before, the cheapest takeaway cafe I've ever seen, giant packets of chips bigger then my head & much much more. Costco seriously is such an experience, it's like you're visiting an American local wholesale grocery store. Some of the prices are ridiculously cheap, and some are average. But it's the unusual American food that's exciting. We are so used to the same types of food that are on our local grocery stores that it's fantastic to see all these different types of food!

After we made our way around the ware house and filled our trolly with all the things we wanted to buy we made it to the checkout. Now I'm just warning you, they are quite strict on the whole membership transactions. You're visitor that you take in can only pay with your transaction, they can't do their own transaction. You're transaction must be paid with your credit card or money only, you're visitor can give you the cash for their purchase but they are not to use their credit card. I'm probably not the best to explain this at all, but just make sure your visitor has cash. There is also an atm at the Costco that can be used :)
After our transaction we ate at the Costco cafe! An oh my god the prices will shock you. Of course it's an American style cafe so the food is huge and crazy cheap. As an example you can get a large refillable drink plus a huge hot dog for (drum role please)....... $2 yep 2 frigen dollars. For $2.95 you can get a GIANT slice of pizza which was so yum. An theirs a few other things in the menu that are great too. I guess it just shocked me because the prices we soooooo cheap, and the food wasn't bad quality either. I think my next Costco trip will be just to visit the cafe hahaha.
Last night we ate the pulled pork which we purchased from Costco. Pre cooked pulled pork which you just reheat for a couple minutes in a pan, microwave or over. It was delicious, had us raving!

Too conclude things my advice is ask yourself if you need to buy in bulk. If it's better off buying things in bulk and saving money in the end. If you don't need to buy in bulk but don't mind paying $60 for the membership then I strongly Reccomend it! It's a fun day out and the membership gives you unlimited access for a whole year.
REMEMBER; you need a membership to enter Costco unless your a guest visiting with another member.
